YOUNG PEOPLE WITH A BRIGHT FUTURE ENTERED BUSINESS WORLD
IUE Graduates of Faculties of Business, Communication, Law, Arts and Science, who successfully completed their studies in 2016 – 2017 Academic Year, received their diplomas. The students, singing the IUE and the 10th Year Anthems, threw their caps into the air proudly at the third of the graduation ceremonies that took place at IUE Amphitheatre.
Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, who accompanied the new graduates entering the business world, indicated that their educational restructuring focused on health, science, and technology. President Demirtaş, “It only feels like yesterday when we’ve established this University. Our endeavors continue with an increasing enthusiasm. We’ve graduated 12 thousand 102 students so far. Majority of them established a successful life. We are going to enroll students to Faculty of Medicine this year. Our hospital construction is still underway. Most probably the hospital will be in service within 18 months. As Izmir Chamber of Commerce, we’ve reached many accomplishments. We will be serving to more than 75 thousand members and Izmir public in health matters”.
'Contributing to the country'
President Demirtaş stated that Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with its 11 departments, contributed to science by generating technology, and they graduated one thousand 667 students ready for employment. “They will not experience employment problems thanks to their self-confidence, high-quality education, and knowledge of foreign language. White-collar employment problem in our country is 25%, but our graduates being unemployed is out of the question. This is because Izmir University of Economics is proudly offering and education for students to learn job ready skills. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for raising our students who are good to their families, and contribute to their countries by following Ataturk’s principles and reforms. Today, we send them off to struggle for life. I am confident that they will succeed. They will contribute to this country. May Godspeed them safely on their life journey,” said the President.
‘New 5,000-Seat Amphitheater in Güzelbahçe'
President Demirtaş reported that they could no longer fit into the 1.600-seat IUE Amphitheatre, and they would be building a new 5,000-seat amphitheater in Güzelbahçe.
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan said they aimed to instill self-esteem in students throughout their education, and she asked graduates to use their education and creativity and not to forget about their school.
Elifnur Uysal, top student of the University who graduated from Department of Translation and Interpretation, attached a star on the commemorative symbolic log with Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, and IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan. Alkım Ecem Ünal (top student of Department of Industrial Engineering) and Aysu Yücel (top student of Department of International Trade and Finance), respectively the second highest and third highest ranking students, were also presented their diplomas and plaques by Demirtaş and Prof. Dr. Muğan.
'A thank you song for EXPO Scholarship'
EXPO Scholarship holder Mirriam Chizudza-Banda, who graduated from Department of Political Science and International Relations, expressed her gratitude with a song. Banda, who sang the ballad “İzmir’in Kavakları”, was admired greatly by the audience. Banda stated that in addition to her international level standard education at IUE, she had an active social life by being the soloist of Group Turuncu for 5 years, IUE music band led by Music Consultant Alaskar Abbasov.
