IUE GRADUATES ENTERED THE BUSINESS WORLD WITH 4.0 GPA
2017 graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) entered the business world. One thousand 667 students, who’ve completed the 2016 – 2017 Academic Year successfully, were awarded their diplomas at the ceremony that took place at IUE Amphitheatre. At the end of the ceremony, the graduates proudly threw their caps into the air.
Elifnur Uysal, top student of the University who graduated from Department of Translation and Interpretation, attached a star on the commemorative symbolic log with Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, and IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan. Alkım Ecem Ünal (top student of Department of Industrial Engineering) and Aysu Yücel (top student of Department of International Trade and Finance), respectively the second highest and third highest ranking students, were also presented their diplomas and plaques by Demirtaş and Prof. Dr. Muğan. The top three students, Uysal, Ünal, and Yücel graduated with a GPA of 4.0.
Graduates of Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Culinary Arts and Management, School of Applied Sciences were also granted their diplomas at the ceremony as the families proudly watched their children on stage.
In his speech, President Ekrem Demirtaş pointed that they produced 12 thousand 102 graduates so far. Demirtaş said, “These are not ordinary students with university diplomas. We are offering an opportunity for students to learn job ready skills. Majority of students graduating today already found their jobs. None of them will stay unemployed”.
‘Izmir Economics to send satellite to the space’
President Demirtaş reported that students of IUE Department of Aerospace Engineering, which welcomed its first students this year, prepared a high altitude balloon; however, the launching was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. “It was cancelled due to wind. Know that Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with its 11 departments, will send a satellite of IUE to the space in 3 – 5 years. New industrial revolution is called the fourth industrial revolution, or 4.0. Our very Department of Mechatronics is starting to produce robots which will be displayed in October. The future of our country lies in science and technology. We are investing in science and technology, we are investing in youth. Today, we are sending off one thousand 667 soldiers of Mustafa Kemal to the business world. We are very proud”.
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan also stated that they were extremely proud of the graduates as they sent them off to business world. Engin Kıbrıslı, Chairman of the IUE Alumni Association, stated that IUE graduates were a well-equipped, inquisitive generation who worked diligently and developed projects continuously. Top student Elifnur Uysal said that she went after her dreams and that she was proud to be a graduate of Izmir University of Economics.
