IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS GOT ALL FESTIVE
Izmir University of Economics celebrated the arrival of spring with Zeynep Dizdar concert. IUE’s "13th Spring Festival", sponsored by Izmir Chamber of Commerce, started off with chats, concerts, sports activities, and performances of student clubs. Students enjoyed seeing their favourite authors and artists, and got carried away with unforgettable songs of Zeynep Dizdar.
The first activity of the programme prepared by the Events Unit was the chat with Gülşah Elikbank and Yiğit Değer Bengi on literature. Gülşah Elikbank shared her experiences with students and told them that her spouse sent her first novel to the publishers. She said that she was afraid of sharing her writings. "I was chosen as the entrepreneur of the year by the Ministry of Culture in 2013. After my book, ‘Siyah Nefes’ was published, I was both an author and a tourism professional,” stated Elikbank. She also mentioned that she enjoyed writing about bad characters and read everything on psychopaths. Yiğit Değer Bengi on the other hand said that she was inspired by historical events.
'Golden words from the Man in Golden Suit'
Barkın Bayoğlu, known as the ‘Man in the Golden Suit’ in motorbike world, met with the students sponsored by Harley Davidson. Bayoğlu talked about tips of using motorbikes, and he said, "Motorbike requires being gentle at the right time and also being harsh at the right time. When you are riding, you need not to think about your daily chores. You need a clear and focused mind to use motorbike.”
'The world will be a better place when we understand the disabilities'
As part of the festival, the student clubs shared their performances they’ve been working on all year long. IUE Kızılay Club’s, "I want to understand the disabled" activity, and IUE Folk Dances Club’s Zeybek performance was greatly admired by the audience.
Zumba Class by MacFit
MacFit’s Zumba class with expert trainers was a sight to see. Students enjoyed themselves at Zeynep Dizdar concert accompanied by DJ Cengiz Arslan at night time. Following that, student music groups Los Bichos, Kilit, Man Cave, and Hipnoz jazzed up the night.
